Simone studied Physics at Università Statale di Milano, with a BSc thesis on artificial neural networks. He then continued with an MSc in theoretical physics at Utrecht Universiteit. His studies focused on theoretical many-body quantum physics and complex systems. Fascinated by collective phenomena that spontaneously emerge from the interaction of a large number of entities, Simone hopes to apply these frameworks to neural systems by means of analytical and computational approaches. His current project focuses on internal homeostatic mechanisms as driving principles for complex behaviour.
